I believe we are our own best coaches. I say this with confidence because I ventured into a variety of 'coaching' and self-improvement ventures for about 15 long years. I was looking for answers in every place, but within my own self. I thought everyone had the answers and everyone else knew more than me. Such bullshit.

I was a creative, funny, confident and powerful little brat living in Southern California. Days of sunshine, the ocean, the corner market for candy and Mexican pastries, bike riding and playing ding-dong-ditch at night with my friends. Until.

Until the weight of being raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, by two damaged parents, surrounded by bully-siblings - eventually collapsed my once-bold existence. Add a smattering of abusive and unhealthy connections for the next several decades, I was a f*cking mess. And I wanted out.

So I did the yoga bends and goddess workshops, the psychologists and psychics, the self-help books and crystals. I searched everywhere, just to find me again.

When my life went to shit, hormones, memories, rage - I decided to just try being my own coach. So every morning, I'd find an alone place to talk to myself. Coach, cheer-lead, console and support MYself. And it f*cking worked.

I shut out all the noise, to finally hear my own beautiful thoughts.

That's what I'm f*cking good at. Empowering others, while they figure out how to empower themselves.
